Ability to dig landscape
For a long time, the landscape was a simple mesh drawn on top of other objects and voxels, which did not allow making holes, caves, basements and dungeons in it. After several months of deep mathematical research, I managed to "convince" the landscape to tactically hide in places where players make holes, replacing them with voxel chunks. A special challenge was the method of gluing voxels and landscape together at the boundaries of chunks: I had to project the edges of voxels on the boundary of chunks, taking into account the axis and the presence of other objects nearby.
Additional methods allow digging in two modes: "soft" digging a 3*3*3 voxel pack smoothing the environment -- suitable for digging the earth with a shovel; and "hard" digging one voxel and making neighboring voxels sharp -- suitable for mining iron ore with a pickaxe.
